Flemington, NJ – Mary E. (nee Sadosky) Hnyda Kjersgaard, 100, entered eternal life on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at home with loving family at her side. Born and raised in Dunbar, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (nee Machesky) Sadosky, she resided in Newark, NJ and shortly after marriage moved to Hillside, NJ then Parlin, NJ, and Matawan, NJ, before recently living with her daughter.
When Mary came to New Jersey she was a maid and nanny. She started her family and then worked at Carmar Zipper in Newark as an assembly worker for many years and then Mary worked for Bristol Myers Squibb in Hillside also as an assembly worker. She then left work due to illness and subsequently retired. In her spare time she enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search, watching television especially the New York Yankees, and dancing.
Beside her parents, Mary was predeceased by her first husband, John Hnyda; second husband, Russell Kjersgaard; daughters, Patricia Garon and Alana Smith; ten siblings; and two granddaughters.
Mary was a loving mother to seven children and will be truly missed by her five surviving children, Johnny Hnyda, Jr., Judith Csaszar, Thomas Hnyda, Nancy Magdon, Pauline and son-in-law, John Falcone with whom she had most recently lived. She will be deeply missed by fourteen cherished grandchildren; three adored great grandchildren; and three dear great-great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Tuesday, May 17 at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ 08822 followed by committal words and interment at Hollywood Cemetery in Union, NJ.
