Obituary

Bayville, NJ- Mary Rose (Tutza) Zalewski, 90, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Tallwoods Care Center in Bayville. Born in Jersey City to her late parents John & Clara (Elke) Tutza, she had resided in Kearny, Fairmount, Piscataway, Somerville, Florida, and Arizona prior to settling in Bayville ten years ago.

Mary, also known as Toots, was proud to have played semi pro women's football in Newark, also having worked as a machine operator at Cooperative Corporation in Chester and as a Deli clerk at the Somerville A&P. For many years, Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed word puzzles and crocheting. Mary cherished the time spent with her late husband John, being fortunate to never spend a day apart in their 59 years of marriage. After John's death, Mary settled in Bayville near her youngest daughter Dolores.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband John S. Zalewski in October of 1995, by her dear daughter-in-law Harriet (Jerome) Zalewski in May of 2005, by her dear son-in-law Mayor Bill Zimmermann of Berkley Township in 1998, by her eighteen month old grandson Richard John Zalewski, Jr. who died in 1965, and by her three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are her four loving & devoted children, her son Richard J. Zalewski of Littleton, CO, her daughter & son-in-law Patricia Ann and Dr. Dieter Rohl of Livonia, MI, her son & daughter-in-law John R. and Karen Ann Zalewski of Neshanic Station, and her daughter Dolores Zimmermann of Bayville. Mary also leaves behind eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 beginning 10:30am at the Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by an 11:00am funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Relatives & friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 between the hours of 2-4pm and 7-9pm, and on Wednesday from 10:00am until service time. Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Memorial Contributions to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Building Fund, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, New Jersey 08887 would be appreciated.
