Flemington, NJ – Maurice John "Jack" Boland, 86, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. Born in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Maurice John and Marguerite (Manfrini) Boland, he grew up in Brooklyn, NY, lived briefly in Newark, NJ, and after marriage resided in Irvington, NJ, Readington Township, NJ, finally settling in Flemington.
Jack graduated from Newark College of Engineering in Newark with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. He faithfully served his country with the United States Navy from 1949-1955. Jack was an industrial sales representative in chemical engineering for Frank Riggio, Inc. in Linden, NJ. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ where he was extremely active in their senior club; he was also a lector leader. He was a past member of the Holy Name Society at St. Leo's in Irvington and also a member of the Jaycee's. He loved bowling, playing bridge, camping with the kids, and organizing yearly family reunions known as the Cousins Club. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants, the NY Yankees and Bill O'Reilly.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Margaret Elizabeth (Huber) Boland with whom he shared Holy Matrimony on September 7, 1953; six loving children, Rosemary and her husband Keith Fields of Flemington, Margaret "Peggy" and her husband Henry "Hank" Kugelman of Albuquerque, NM, Regina "Nina" and her husband Jim Cooney of Santa Rosa, CA, Michael Boland and his wife Julia of Flemington, Madonna and her husband Steve Elsbury of San Mateo, CA, and Matthew Boland and his wife Chris of Dover, PA; and dear brother, Joseph Boland of Maryland. He will be deeply missed by seven cherished grandchildren, Brad, Katie, Teren, Tim, Ryan, Jessie, and Carrie; eight adored great grandchildren, Meredith, Gabriel, Ocean, Justus, Ryder, Callie, Cooper, and Dawson; and as well numerous nieces and nephews affectionately known as the Cousins Club.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Rolling Hills Care Center, Hunterdon Medical Center ICU and Emergency Room. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Sunday, January 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, January 30 from 8:30-9:00 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30 beginning 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:45 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 with Fr. Thomas Serafin officiating. Committal words and interment will follow at St. Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
