Hillsborough, NJ—Nancy Lee (nee LaBounty) Danek, 80, entered into eternal life on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Serenity Hospice Care in Hamilton, NJ with a loving family member by her side. Born in Barre, VT, she was the daughter of the late Maurice Joffre and Hazel (nee Edson) LaBounty. Nancy settled in Hillsborough, NJ in 1974.

Nancy was a proud graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1961. She dedicated many years to Avalon Assisted Living as a receptionist and greeter, and previously held similar roles at Subaru, Champion Tire, Sherman & Sons Jewelers and Creative Play Things. Nancy valued being the first point of contact for visitors, taking care to make them feel welcomed.

Nancy was primarily a homemaker who took great pride in caring for and raising her children and grandchildren. She dedicated much pride in donating her time to her community, the schools her children attended and as a Girl Scouts cookie mom. She also enjoyed helping to fulfill Make-A-Wish requests through soliciting donations and making them herself. She was a financial donor to many charities, most notably, local Police Benevolent Associations, Veterans groups, and the Wounded Warrior Project. Nancy's love of nature and animals was contagious. Her home included several family pets over the years and she made an effort to nourish the wildlife that came to her property . Family was very important to Nancy. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, plays and recitals and visiting family. There wasn't a Christmas that went by without excitement and joy for the holiday as it was a time for her to cook for her extended family that gathered at her home. Nancy was a skilled sewer who actively participated in the Hunterdon County Quilting Guild. She made wedding favors, baby blankets and Halloween costumes for her children, nieces and nephews. Nancy and her husband also enjoyed going to the casino and the beach. Many a summer would be spent, by Nancy and her family, at the Jersey Shore.

Besides her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her sister, Jacqueline Guarini.

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, William Edward Danek, with whom she wed on October 30, 1970; two adored children, Matthew Danek (Jennifer) and Cheryl Pieroni (Anthony); three cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Amelia, and Daneka; three step-grandchildren, Christopher, John, and Lilian, whom she loved; her dear sister, Patricia Scotto; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Sunday, October 6, from 1-4 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.  A memorial service will begin at 3:30 p.m., led by family and friends.
