Bridgewater, NJ – Philip M. Paterno, 91, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater, NJ. Born in New York, NY son of the late Francesco and Rosina (Borgia) Paterno, he was raised in Gravesend, Brooklyn and lived on Long Island prior to settling to the Branchburg/Bridgewater area in 1986.

Philip retired from AT&T after many years of service. He earned his masters in Engineering from Polytechnic University in Brooklyn. Philip faithfully served his country in the United States Army from Jan. 1945 to Nov. 1946. He once served a one year tour as a Congressional Fellow in Washington DC after his retirement. Above all, Philip was all about his family whom he loved and cared for more than anything. Philip was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges.

Besides his parents, Philip was predeceased by 8 siblings.

Philip will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 65 years, Marion (Magliano) Paterno; children, Frank Paterno and Carol of NJ and John Paterno and Teresa of NY; grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle and Monica Paterno; great granddaughter Kinslee; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 8:30-10:15 a.m.

Funeral services will begin on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges with Fr. Thomas Serafin officiating. Committal words and entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum in Bridgewater, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made in Philip's name to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
