Rachel L. (née Tweeboom) Ockers, 95, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Born and raised in Willemstad, Curaçao, she was the daughter of the late Simon Moises and Henriette Cloefa (née Jandroep) Tweeboom. Rachel traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and Latin America before immigrating to the United States in 1965, first settling in San Jose, CA, and later relocating to Flemington, NJ.

A devoted homemaker, Rachel took immense pride in caring for her family. Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bernard Ockers, who passed on August 3, 2003; her daughter, Deborah Ockers; and eleven siblings.

She is survived and deeply missed by her three loving children: Muriel M. Brown of California, Maud J. Urbanski of New Jersey, and Bernard Ockers Jr. of Ohio. Rachel also leaves behind her dear brother, Wim Tweeboom; five cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Brandy, Jackie, Jennifer, and Samantha; eleven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members in Curaçao.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, January 16, from 4-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. A funeral prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A graveside service will take place on Friday, January 17, at 12:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Avenue, Hamilton, NJ 08619.
