Raffaella "Fanny" Pitucco

Raritan Township, NJ – Raffaella "Fanny, Fay" Pitucco, 94, formerly of Roselle Park and Newark, passed away at the Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on March 1, 1914, Fanny was the daughter of the late Dominic and Virginia (Portavanti) Melito.
Fanny worked at several jobs through the years, retiring in 1979. She was a former resident of the thriving Italian First Ward in Newark, parishioner of St. Lucy's Church, and a member of the Church of the Assumption Altar Rosary Society, Roselle Park. Still, she will be most fondly remembered by the many who loved her for her dynamic personality, wonderful sense of humor, passion for playing bingo, and superior culinary skills.
Fanny was predeceased by her beloved husband Nicholas in 1982. She was the devoted mother to her loving son Peter and his wife, Joanne; cherished grandmother to Peter Jr. and wife, Amy, Matthew, and Elisse; adoring great-grandmother to Timothy and Julianna; and the special "Aunt Fanny" to many admiring nieces and nephews.
Fanny was also predeceased by her brothers Carmine, Anthony (Tony), John, Jerry, and Peter; and sisters Margaret Traettino and Caroline (Clara) Mone.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 beginning 9:15am at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Magdalen dePazzi Roman Catholic Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Fanny will be laid to rest beside her husband at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Monday, November 17, 2008 from 8:30am until service time.
