Obituary

Whitehouse Station, NJ – Ray C. Locke, 96, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at home in Whitehouse Station. Born in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Charles and Clara (Goetting) Locke, he resided in New York for a year before moving to Plainfield, NJ, where he graduated from Plainfield High School, Class of 1940, and was also a YMCA leader. He then resided in Green Brook, NJ, and Englewood, FL where he built a house for his mother and father in 1951 and upon retirement he would live in that same house.

Ray faithfully served his country with the United States Army upon enlistment in 1942. He was deployed to the Southwest Pacific during World War II. He retired after many years of dedicated work with Locke & DeFiore Builders in Westfield, NJ as a co-owner. Ray had an artistic ability that he enjoyed sharing with others through his paintings, woodworking, and socializing.

Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Butnor.

Ray is survived by two loving sons, Mark Locke and his wife Donna of Whitehouse Station and Gregory Locke of Dunellen, NJ. He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandson, Kyle Locke.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Monday, February 22 from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Committal words and interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ.
