Lebanon, NJ – Richard Wexler, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Lebanon.  Born in Newark, NJ, son of the late Seymour and Gertrude (nee Band) Wexler, he had resided in Irvington, NJ, Hillside, NJ, Verona, NJ, and New York City, NY, prior to living in Lebanon.

Richard was a teacher at Temple Sha'arey Shalom in Springfield, NJ, before retirement.  Growing up in the 50's and 60's Richard had begun many friendships.  He maintained and enjoyed these childhood friendships, all through his life.  Faith was important to Richard; he was very active within the Jewish community. As a child he had been a member of Young Judea.  Later as an adult, he had worked for the B'nail B'rith Youth Organization in Irvington.  Richard had a passion for old movies; he loved good food and enjoyed a good drink.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Michael and Rose Wexler and his maternal grandparents, Sam and Sadie Band.

Richard is survived by his dear sister, Ellen Lee Wexler of Three Bridges, NJ; and by many cherished cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ 08830 on Sunday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rabbi Joshua Goldstein.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
