Raritan Township , NJ – On January 11, 2010, the death of Robert "Bob" Russell Urbanski, 75, deprived the world of an amazing husband, father, friend, and fisherman. Bob's greatest passions in life were his family and fishing (although some would say fishing and family). He was at his happiest while casting in a stream or on a boat, and while among his beloved friends and family telling stories and laughing at his jokes.


Born to humble beginnings in Munson, PA, Bob joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War. Bob made use of the G.I. Bill to earn his bachelor's degree and went on to earn master's degrees in both education and mathematics.


Bob was a teacher, because he loved nothing more than helping others. He began his career in 1961 teaching mathematics and coaching baseball at Monmouth Regional High School. He was a professor for 30 years at Middlesex County College, where he also coached the ski team. Teaching at one school wasn't quite enough work for Bob, so he also was an adjunct professor at Rutgers University for 25 years and tutored students until his death.


Bob leaves behind Maud J. (Ockers) Urbanski, his beloved wife of 30 years; his four children: Michael Urbanski and wife Jean of Princeton; Susan Urbanski of Oakland, CA; John Urbanski and wife Karey of Colorado Springs, CO and Jacqueline Urbanski of Lawrenceville; three siblings: Jim, Anna, and Emma. He will also be deeply missed by his four grandchildren: Max, Calvin, Lucas, and Shane.


Friends and family are invited to the visitation on Friday, January 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 beginning 10:00 a.m. with the viewing beginning at 9:15 a.m. Interment and committal words will be at St. Magdalen's Cemetery in Flemington.
