Toms River, NJ—Rosemary (Marsala) Smith, 94, entered into eternal life on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ.  Born and raised in New York, NY, daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Brown) Marsala, she later raised her family in the Bronx, NY before relocating to Brick Township, Toms River and recently to Bridgewater, NJ.

Rosemary loved to bake and was known internationally for her Irish Soda Bread.  She also enjoyed knitting, feeding the birds, playing canasta and taking trips to Atlantic City.

Besides her parents, Rosemary was predeceased by her beloved husband, James W. Smith, Sr.; sons, Alfred Smith and Robert Smith; and sister, Catherine Maier.

Rosemary is survived by her devoted son, James W. Smith, Jr.; seven cherished grandchildren, Terrance, Aerin, Matthew, Shannon, James, III, Ryan and Thomas; adored great grandchildren, Kari Ann, Harrison, Hannah, Nicholas, and Gabriella; a dear cousin, who was always there for her, Judith Little; and three loving nieces, Linda Westphal, Donna Singleton, and Maria Maier.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Tuesday, March 12 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 13 from 8:30–9:15 a.m.
