Three Bridges, NJ – Shirley Frey, 87, entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Hillsborough surrounded by her loving children.  Born in Somerville, NJ, daughter of the late Louis and Mary (nee Orecchio) Filigheri, she grew up in Raritan, NJ, had lived in Branchburg, NJ, and settled in Three Bridges, NJ.

Shirley was a graduate of Somerville High School in Somerville, NJ, where she was on the National Honor Society.  She was a very devout Catholic who was heavily involved with her church.  As a faithful parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ, she started their first Saturday Fatima Rosary devotion, was a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan,  a member of the Linens Ministry, and  a member of the adult choir for the holidays.

Shirley worked all her life in various administrative positions with her longest employment of 11 years as an Assistant to the President of Voltaix, a manufacturing company which was located in Branchburg, NJ, until she retired in her early 60's.  She then lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as chatting while playing games with her friends, reading, baking, and dancing alone with the music so loud it could be heard from outside her condo.

She was tenacious and held a joyful, somewhat strong, presence with her creative fashion choices, beautiful hair, and compassionate spirit.  She loved her family and friends, and her warmth and kindness was unwavering.  Her children were so proud to call her Mom.   Not only an amazing mom but also an amazing grandmother who planned memorable activities and traditions with her grandchildren that will be imprinted forever in their hearts.

Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Filigheri.

Shirley is survived by three loving children, Diane and her husband Roc Walker of Easton, PA, Douglas Frey and his wife Melissa of Pipersville, PA, and Ronald Frey and his wife Rose of Kingwood Township, NJ; a dear brother, Louis R. Filigheri and his fiancé, Carol; and four cherished grandchildren, Ronald Metcalf, Serena Frey, Derek Frey, and Michael Frey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Thursday, June 29, from 8:45-9:45 a.m.   Funeral services will begin on Thursday, June 29, at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home followed by an 10:30 a.m. funeral mass at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges with Fr. Thomas J. Serafin, KCHS officiating.  Committal words and inurnment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.
