Three Bridges - Sister Lucille Nalbone MPF, 74, elementary school teacher, principal, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, after a long illness at the Saint Joseph Hall Infirmary at Villa Walsh, Morristown. Born in Trenton, Sister Lucille entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1947. She received the habit in 1949 and made her religious profession in 1952.
She earned an A.A. in elementary education from Villa Walsh Junior College, a B.S. in elementary education from the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, Md., and an M.A. degree in pastoral ministry from St. Joseph College, West Hartford, Conn. Sister Lucille served the community as a local superior for 17 years and for one year as directress of novices and postulants. She was elementary school principal in the following schools; Our Lady of Pompei School, Baltimore, Md., Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, Schenectady, N.Y., and St. Bartholomew School, Scotch Plains.
As an elementary school teacher, Sister Lucille taught in the following schools; St. Sebastian School, Middletown, Conn., Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Jersey City, Holy Spirit School, Pequannock, Our Lady of Mt. Virgin School, New Brunswick, Our Lady of the Lakes School, Lakeport, N.H., St. Ann School, New Britain, Conn., St. Peter School, Torrington, Conn., Holy Family School, Nutley and St. Bernadette School, Brooklyn, N.Y. Sister Lucille also taught religious education at St. Francis Parish, Hackensack, and at St. Mary of the Lake Parish, Watkins Glen, N.Y. She was pastoral minister at St. Anthony Parish, Watertown, N.Y., and director of religious education at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Schenectady, N.Y., at St. Andrew Parish, Rochester, N.Y., and at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, Three Bridges, the latter while residing at St. Ann Convent, Raritan.
Sister Lucille is survived by a sister, Jeanette Vilar of Rochester, N.Y. and by a brother, Sal Nalbone of Webster, N.Y.
Funeral services for Sister Lucille will be held on Monday, August 20, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 with visitation from 5-7pm followed by a 7:30pm funeral liturgy. Local funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges.
