Obituary

Flemington, NJ – Susan H. Taylor (nee Heal), 71, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her daughter's home in Flemington with loving family by her side.  Born in Elizabeth, NJ, daughter of the late Thomas and Carolyn Heal, Sr. (nee Corey), she was raised in Roselle and resided in Iselin for several decades, before settling in Flemington in 2015.
Susan attended Elizabeth School of Nursing and Union County College both in New Jersey, earning her certification as a Registered Nurse. She had worked at Elizabeth General Hospital as an RN. Susan's greatest joy came from raising her family and spending quality time with them, especially her grandchildren.  She was quite talented at sewing, often making Halloween costumes, embroidered gifts, and quilts for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and assisting with themed birthday parties for the grandchildren. Susan was an avid fan of mystery shows featuring Poirot and Agatha Christie, as well as paranormal activity and ghost hunter shows. She enjoyed long "Sunday drives" with her husband and family, that included antiquing and farmstand stops. She was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church.
Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by her daughter, Dr. Victoria Callahan (nee Taylor) in 2017; her older brother, Thomas Heal, Jr., younger sister, Carolyn Heuer, and nephew, Michael Heuer.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Raymond Taylor and by her beloved children, daughter, Jennifer and her husband Ian Wyatt of Flemington, son, Jeffrey Taylor and his wife Jennifer of Califon, and son-in-law, Richard Callahan of Phillipsburg, NJ.  She will be deeply missed by her five cherished grandchildren, Emerson, Rachel, Jacob, Isabella, and Caleb; dear nephews, Jason Heal and wife Jacqueline, David Heuer and wife Kimberly, and dear niece, Paige Sourbeer and husband David; as well as several grand-nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Friday, March 26 from 4-7 p.m.  At the family's request, the funeral service will be private.  Susan will be laid to rest at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Susan's name to Hunterdon Hospice, 215 State Route 31, Flemington, NJ 08822.  To send condolences to the family, sign an online guest book, or light a candle, please visit www.CountrysideFuneralHome.com .
