Obituary

Bridgewater, NJ- Fredrick Theodore "Ted" Rediker, 93, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at The Delaney of Bridgewater with loving family by his side.  Born in Paterson, NJ, son of the late Fredrick Theodore and Alberta (nee Miel) Rediker, he spent the early part of his life growing up in Bergen County, New Jersey and he then lived most of his life in Pine Brook, NJ.  He recently moved to Bridgewater.

Ted attended Lyndhurst High School and then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.  Ted faithfully served his country with the United States Army as a private first class from 1951 to 1956.  He was employed for many years as an engineer with Manhattan Rubber Company and with RJS Corp., both in Passaic, NJ.  Ted was a member and very active in his church community at the United Presbyterian Church in Lyndhurst.  He was a deacon, elder, usher and took on many other roles at the church.  Ted had a love for gardening and was always willing to lend a hand to his neighbors.  He was a vicarious reader and also enjoyed camping and canoeing, going to the beach and water skiing.

Besides his parents, Ted was predeceased by his son, Gary Richard Rediker; and sisters, Diana Hedden and Margaret Gunderman.

Ted is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Melrose L. (nee Cavenaugh) Rediker with whom he joined hands in marriage on July 21, 1956.  He will be deeply missed by his loving daughter, Lori D. Kennedy of Three Bridges, NJ; five cherished grandchildren, Kacie Kennedy, Patrick "Packy" Kennedy III, Tara Kennedy, Ryan Kennedy, and Sean Kennedy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Sunday, January 23 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, January 24 from 9:30-10:00 a.m.  Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday with prayers officiated by Pastor Linda Van Kampen.  Committal words and interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.  Memorial contributions may be made in Ted's name to the United Presbyterian Church, 511 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071.  To send condolences to the family or light a candle, please visit www.CountrysideFuneralHome.com .
