Terence J. Carroll (Terry), 65, passed away September 4, 2020. He was born March 9, 1955, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
At age one, he moved to East Brunswick, N.J., and then at age 16 he moved to Hunterdon County where he became a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of North Hunterdon High School.
He entered the military at age 19, joining the Marines. He performed his basic training at Camp Lejeune, S.C. He completed training at Camp Pendleton as an antitank assault man. He served on the USS Dubuque and in April 1975, participated in the evacuation of Saigon and rescue of refugees fleeing South Vietnam. After serving four years in the Marines, he joined the Navy, where he became an aviation boatswain. He served on the USS Tripoli and USS Constellation. His most memorable deployments were San Diego and the Philippines. Upon his return to New Jersey after his military career, he began working for the Hunterdon County Road Department where he served with distinction. He retired 10 years ago. He was a Life Member of The American Legion Post 159 Flemington and Life Member of the VFW Post 7921 Lambertville New Jersey. He enjoyed working at the local senior center. He was a quiet man, beloved by his family, friends and neighbors.
Terry is survived by his mother, Peg Marsh of Flemington, N.J.; sister, Chris (Carroll) du Bois and brother-in-law, Gary du Bois of Wayside, N.J.; sister, Megan (Carroll) Giovanni and brother-in-law, Maurice Giovanni of Sterling, Conn.; a step-sister, Maureen Marsh of Ireland. He has three nephews, Ian and Colin du Bois, Hunter Giovanni and one niece, Angelina Giovanni.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Saturday, September 12 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Lorraine Blum. Committal words and interment will take place Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to samaritanspurse.org.
