Hillsborough, NJ – Thomas A. King, 76, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Somerset Medical Center. Born and raised in Manville to his late parents Frank & Anna (Acs) King, Thomas moved to Hillsborough in 1979.
Thomas was a 1949 graduate of St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Private First Class after faithfully serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired after many years as a Sheet Metal Mechanic from Local #27 located in South Jersey. He was a member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh, VFW Post #2290 in Manville, a pitcher in the Industrial Softball League and a former volunteer fireman with the Camplain Fire Company located in Manville.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Irene V. (Owsik) King, his loving daughter and son-in-law Eileen M. and John Conroy of Manhattan, NY, his dear sisters; Kathleen Petrone of Manville and Madalene Blue of Somerville. He will be sadly missed by his adored grandchildren Kerry and Thomas Conroy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2006 beginning 10:30am at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by an 11:00am funeral liturgy at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ. At the request of the family, final disposition will be held private. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:30am until 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thomas' memory may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Expansion Campaign, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
