Viola Jean (Degnan) Youngberg, 86, entered into eternal life on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater. Born in New York City, NY, daughter of the late John and Mary (Carroll) Degnan, she settled to Bridgewater one year ago.

Viola retired in 1991 after many years of dedicated employment as a cafeteria manager with the New York City Board of Education. Viola was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel in New York City, NY and had a passion for travel and spending time with family.

Viola was predeceased by her beloved husband Lawrence Youngberg in 1985.

Viola leaves behind to cherish her memory, two loving children: daughter, Lorraine Hagen of Whitehouse Station and son, Lawrence Youngberg of Astoria, Queens, NY and her dear sister, Veronica Lake of Brick, NJ. She will be deeply missed by her five adored grandchildren: Jeffrey Hagen, Kimberly Hagen, Lorraine Ann Youngberg, Susan Youngberg, Jean Marie Youngberg and eight cherished great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Wednesday, December 15th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, December 16th from 8:45-9:15 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 16th beginning 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by an 10:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. Committal words and entombment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Viola's name to: Bridgeway Care Center, 270 Route 28, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
