Hillsborough, NJ - William Foxall Cunningham, M.D. passed away on April 4, 2022 at Foothill Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hillsborough, New Jersey, as a result of complications of Alzheimer's, with loving family by his side.  Dr. Cunningham was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William Paul and Ida May (née Foxall) Cunningham.

He graduated from Temple University's Lewis Katz Medical School in 1966 and completed his surgical and neurosurgical residencies at Philadelphia General Hospital in 1967.  He practiced neurosurgery in Central New Jersey at Somerset Medical Center (where he was Chief of Neurosurgery), St. Peter's Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, until his retirement in 2006.

In addition, he served three years in the United States Merchant Marine service.  An extensive world traveler, Bill lived in both Neshanic and Princeton, New Jersey for over 40 years.  He had a great passion for travel, hunting, opera, history and his family.  He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Three Bridges, New Jersey.

William is survived by his four children, William of Flemington, NJ; Karen of Brooklyn, NY; Arlene of Hillsborough, NJ and John of Syracuse, NY.  He is also survived by his two grandchildren Nicholas Foxall and William Louis Cunningham of Flemington, NJ.  He was formally married to Arlene H. Cunningham, who died in 2019.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Rt. 202 North, Three Bridges, New Jersey.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass Saturday April 9, 2022 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ, followed by interment at Princeton Cemetery, 29 Greenview Avenue, Princeton, NJ.
