Obituary

William N. "Bill" Young, 85, was reunited with his beloved wife, Carol, and "the man

upstairs" when he passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Bridgeway Care and

Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Born and raised in Ludlow, Kentucky,

he was the son of the late William and Marie (née Hamic) Young. Bill's adventures took

him to many cities in the US, first as an Air Force recruit and later as a sales manager

for Dun & Bradstreet.

Bill graduated from Ludlow High School, Class of 1958, where he was a talented

baseball catcher. His skills earned him a spot on the competitive baseball team at

Lackland Air Force Base shortly after he arrived for basic training. An off-base church

visit one Sunday introduced him to the love of his life, Carol Gammans. Bill and Carol

were married in 1959.

Bill earned a degree in business at San Antonio College and went to work for Dun &

Bradstreet as a reporter along the Texas-Mexico border. He was promoted to sales

manager and relocated to Dayton, Ohio, the first stop of many subsequent roles of

increasing responsibility with D&B that took Bill, Carol, and their two daughters to a

number of cities in the Midwest and East Coast. His fondest career memories occurred

when he took on the role of National Sales Manager for D&B Credit Services in Murray

Hill, New Jersey. He ended his career as Senior Vice President with R.H. Donnelley, a

D&B subsidiary.

Some of Bill and Carol's best days were spent pursuing their mutual passion for golf on

the courses of the PGA National Golf Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where

they retired and enjoyed hosting their children and grandchildren over the years. They

eventually moved back north to Pennsylvania to be near their family.

Bill was predeceased by Carol, his devoted wife of 63 years who passed away in 2022,

and his parents. He is survived by his loving daughters and sons-in-law ("the lads"),

Cynthia and John Tintorri of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, and Sharon and Rick England of

Flemington, New Jersey. He will be deeply missed by his elder brother, Presley (Sue)

Young; younger sisters LaVerne Redfield and Jean Gibbs; cherished grandchildren Kate

Tintorri and her fiancé, Steve DeRoxtra; Evan and Joslyn Tintorri; Rachel and Brandon

Pernini; and Brian England; adored great-grandchildren Kellen, Owen, Alaina, Joseph,

Luciana, and Eleanor; and many nieces and nephews.
